Projects, Mail Art, and List It Tuesday

I have a couple of projects that I am supposed to be working on, but I've been procrastinating on them for about a week now. I did, however, start getting supplies together. One of the projects I am involved in is a post card exchange using hand made stamps. I cut enough watercolor paper to size yesterday and then started thinking about mail art. This led to the carving of a few new stamps that may or may not be used in this exchange.

I have questions about mail art that I am hoping to get answers to. When you exchange art post cards, do you put them in an envelope to send them or do you send them with the addy on the art itself? Do you make art on both sides and just have a small part of the back where you put your info and exchange name? If you only art up one side, how do you keep the other side pristine? I always seem to get paint on the edges of the back of my art work! Am I a slob? Does this happen to you? I am hoping you can help me out here.

In other matters, I have a value study in greys that I am supposed to be working on using a Van Gogh flowers sketch provided by the lovely Maer. I really must get started on this sometime today so that I don't end up rushing it.

It is List It Tuesday again today and the lovely Aimee at Artsyville has suggested a list of things I am a Sucker For, so here goes:

Today I am a volunteer at the Book Cellar at the downtown branch of the Jackson District Library and then I will come home for a bit before heading for the daughter's to spend the night. She rented "It's Complicated" last week and it was a hoot. I think she is renting "Leap Year". She is a dear to bother to entertain me on Tuesday evenings. Now if I can only figure out a way to actually get a good night's sleep there. She has to be to work at 6 am, so I will get the girls up at 7 and get them ready and onto the bus.

What about you? What are you up to today? Does it include cooking? sewing? drawing? painting? Do share...

Shadows, Pretty Baby, and EDM

I finally was able to get a couple of the hubster's newly made Adirondacks into the sun around 3 pm yesterday and now have the shadows as I want them. The shadows in the original attempt were longer; I'm guessing it was closer to 5 pm. And while on the topic of shadows, I must thank Maer for all her help in identifying the location of the light source (in this case the sun) and making every shadow is in tune with that source.

The hubster and I went to my son's to visit last evening and I couldn't resist getting a new picture of the latest member of my girl tribe.

She is such a sweet, happy baby.

And last, but not least, my latest EDM - #217 - an umbrella. I'm afraid it is quite messy. Sometimes ink is not the best thing for me. I forget to be careful until it dries and smear it. I've tried making it a striped umbrella to cover up the sloppiness. I am not sure I've succeeded.

Miss 8 and Miss 3 will be here shortly to spend the day with us while their Mom is working. I don't know for sure what we will be doing, but there is bound to be some art involved. We are going to the post office to mail the Inktense pencils to Tracy and then making a visit to our small local library branch. It is sure to be a busy, fun day.

I sure hope you have a busy, fun day as well!
