Kristy Kutch Water Solubles Class

I had a wonderful time in Kristy Kutch's water solubles class at Krasl this past weekend and have some pix to share with you. I must tell you Kristy is extremely talented, fun and very good at explaining what she does. She answered every question asked even if a bit off task. I am so happy to be home and have loads to do to catch up. We are hosting our annual Memorial Day cookout on Sunday of the upcoming weekend and may have overnight guests. You know that means things have to be cleaned.

I just put a pot of coffee on so I can catch up on the mail and sit in the screened porch and inhale the yard. I have pix of my sister's garden and orioles at her feeder as well as pix from the wonderful gardenscape at Sandy's place in Niles. I will share those tomorrow. I will also share the missing EDiM sketches at that time.

Internet Woes and A Short Trip

I've been experiencing a couple of days of internet interruptions so severe that I couldn't even check my email. I have been on the phone with the HughesNet people for three mornings in a row. Each of those days I was on the line with them for so long that the battery in my handset died. Finally today I seem to have the internet back.


Yesterday I got Little Miss 3 around noon and then her sister got off the bus here around 4. Just before Miss 8's bus arrived, my son came over to bring the new baby and Little Miss 7 to stay for a few hours. I hogged spent time with the baby while Papa and the girls made pancakes and sausage for dinner. It was a busy, noisy evening, but loads of fun.


I have a couple of finds to show you and would like to ask you for some ideas. Firstly, the last time Nancy and I went to Ann Arbor, we stopped at a smoke shop (no we weren't smoking or buying smokes) and the proprietor gave me a lovely cigar box. I didn't look inside until I got home and then I immediately thought it would be a great pencil case, but the pencils are much too long, so what would you use it for? I need some ideas. The dividers in the case are 6 inches long and 7/8 inch wide. Isn't this a beauty?

I also went second hand shopping in Charlotte earlier in the month when I took my sister out to lunch for her birthday and she found these two books for me at the Goodwill store. I love them. Not only are the covers in good shape, but they have some very interesting pages and pictures inside.

It is colder than aitch e double hockey sticks and I am getting pretty tired of it. I do, however, have some definite signs of Spring in the yard. I would really appreciate it if we could get a month of 50s and 60s before the 80s and 90s arrive.

I am leaving to visit my sister in about an hour and am planning to stop in Niles to visit my friend Sandy. I will be away for the weekend, so don't know if I will be posting or not. You know that I will be thinking of you and if I have anything to share I will. My sister and I have such fun playing cribbage, scrabble and yahtzee and shopping, walking, whatever. Her husband is a good cook and puts up with us with grace and elan.

Monday Links and a 40,000 viewer Giveaway

Before I get into today's post, I have a print to show you that I won just before I went on my trip to upstate New York. I forgot to show it to you and I know you really like me to share. I won this lovely leaf print from Karen Blados, one of my favorite artists. You probably know her; if not, now is the time to go check out her blog and see her amazing work.

It is even more beautiful in person.

The hubster and I spent a couple of hours with buckets of bleach and water washing the siding on his workshop yesterday afternoon.  It is 2-car garage size and is free standing. We only had to do three sides, but that was plenty. Neither one of us thought about how hard bleach would be on our hands and didn't wear rubber gloves and are paying for it today. My right hand is raw around the fingernails and between the fingers. It even hurts to type. It was an absolutely gorgeous day; 71 and sunny with just a bit of a breeze. We should have made flavored coffee and enjoyed that day in the swings, but his workshop looks so nice now, it was almost worth it.

The one good thing about being out there though is that I noticed again how lovely the mums are in the side garden. They are the most beautiful color. What do you think?

Oh, before I forget - the hubster found a new recipe in the local paper and tried it this weekend. It was wonderful and has made its way into our personalized cookbook. It is easy to make and is even better the day after.

 

I have a girl sketch that I am planning to transfer to watercolor paper and try to paint. I am thinking of doing four small ones on one sheet to compare them. I would like to try doing her in watercolor, pan pastels, colored pencils and acrylics. I will share when/if I get it done. Here she is:
