I have spent most of the time since Thursday last week deciding what tweaking I am going to do to the painting I am working on. I want to add some darkness to the left side behind the heron and am thinking of doing some spattering of the bank of the creek behind him, but I have been paralyzed when thinking about actually making those changes. I have to remind myself that it is only paper and that whatever happens it will be a great learning experience. I am hoping to make changes today and share them tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I am afraid the paralyzing effect has extended into other art endeavors. I must get to work playing with the tangles workshop in my group. I also want to do a blind contour at least once a week. And I have been planning to get outdoors to do more sketching. I think it is time to get my friend Nancy and go to the zoo to sketch.
Late last night while watching the Tigers vs White Sox baseball game, I sketched a few birds. Birds seem to be my "go to" subject matter when I am trying to get into sketching. At any rate, here is my rendering of a tufted titmouse.
I need to go the the store today - we are out of nuts, bananas, cereal, bagels, avocados and who knows what else. I am also going to walk the treadmill. And then I am going to make myself sit down and make some changes to the heron painting so that I can see what happens. I will share tomorrow no matter how it turns out.

I'd love to see the changes of the heron, and I like this bird sketch as well =)
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it's only paper. If you're not happy with it, then just do it again right?
=) Nice rose!
Fantastic rose - even better with the rainwater. I like your bird.
ReplyDeleteMade me realise that I have ever seriously studied and drawn a bird! Will add that to my list...
The bird is a cutie and I love that your photo today is a yellow rose because I am making an attempt to paint a yellow rose and I like the pink tinge in the center!
ReplyDeleteYes, the rose is very lovely, but I must say, I can't believe how much your drawing has improved! This little sketch is really, really good! Can't wait to get together. hugs, nancy
ReplyDeleteI really like your bird sketch! The lines are lovely and effective.
ReplyDeleteCute bird :)
ReplyDeleteVicki, I have to agree with Nancy on this one! Look at that fabulous bird sketch! Wonderful line variation!
ReplyDeleteThe photo is beautiful. And the bird sketch is terrific. Isn't it funny that we all have different "go to" subjects. Mine are cats. We had better keep them apart, eh? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your little bird - he's just gorgeous!!! and your photograph is beautiful - every waterdroplet in focus! Just lovely.
