Quick Watercolor Sketches

I have decided to make a more serious attempt at watercolor, but am finding that sketchbooks are not necessarily the best paper choices on which to do so.

I wanted to try the virtual paintout challenge for Latvia, so used Google Map to put my little yellow man on the street and found a backyard scene to try. I used pen for the sketch and then my little travel watercolor kit to add color.

And later I sketched a decorative door from a location in Wells, Somerset, England. I found this reference photo some time ago and now don't remember from whence it came - google maps? wet canvas? morgue file? At any rate, my colors seem to be a bit bland and I've overworked them again.

I have my conditioning class this morning, after which I intend to jog on the treadmill for a half hour. The hubster took his truck in to Midas for some work and they needed to keep it overnight in order to get the correct wheel bearing (apparently they were brought the wrong one more than once yesterday), so I will be making a trip to town later today. I need some bottled water and some salad makings anyway, so I will make the trip a double duty one.

What do you have planned for today? Does it include time for yourself and your creativity? I hope so.

xoxo
