More Sketches

So first I tried another 30-second pose. This was a man from the back. The time went by so fast, it seemed more like 15 seconds than 30, then I spent 90 seconds on the pose that I tried for 30 seconds yesterday and I like her a lot better, but I ran out of time. Of course, if I would quit erasing, I'd probably get more done.

I just put Miss Z down for a nap and need to get things picked up a bit. I am making a ground lamb recipe that I got from my friend, Nancy, but instead of pita, I am using multi-grain tortillas. The hubster may choose some other kind of bread as he tried one of the tortillas last evening and declared them to be awful.

I am severely lactose intolerant, so I skip the cucumber yogurt sauce, but I find just the lamb mixture wrapped in a tortilla or stuffed in a pita to be delicious just the same.

What are you planning for dinner? Have you made time for your art today?

I just ran out to check the mail. I got some art sale catalogs, but still no art from overseas. I am so anxious to show it to you and get this giveaway underway.

xoxo

  1. I think you are doing well with your 30 second poses, you have the proportions and shapes well.

  2. I don't know how you even muster enough courage to put the lead to the paper in 30 seconds! I am unable to produce anything in such a short amount of time! 90 seconds sounds just a tad more feasible.
    Keep them coming :-)

  3. The secret to 30- (or 90-) second sketches is to never erase! I don't know how you are fitting that in! I find that in that tiny amount of time, the easier thing is contour sketching--never removing your eyes from your model or your pencil from your page, and seeing what it looks like only after you are done. A fun way to get the feel of whatever you are drawing--following the contour line around it with your eyes and your pencil simultaneously. They don't often look accurate or proportionate, but they are surprisingly evocative of the real thing...

  4. Well, first you have to get a Vicki, repurposed book. Then the Book demands you draw. It does not like pristine white pages. Vicki Books love graphite.

  5. Great gesture sketches in a compressed time!

  6. I think you're doing a fine job with these ... some turn out better than others, but that happens all the time to everyone. With this set, I really like the one on the right! p.s., the recipe looks good, but it's not the one I gave you! lol hugs, nancy
