Because I am expecting little Zoƫ this afternoon and overnight, I've vacuumed the living room and down the hallway. And while I was up and about, I also made my bed, picked up and swept the entrance, shook rugs and put some window screens up. Ah, fresh air.... Right now I have the first load of laundry in the dryer, with a second load waiting. Just one more load and the dishwasher to run and I will feel like I've really accomplished something housewifey (I know - I just made it up) today.
While the laundry is drying I decided to do a bit of sketching. I haven't sketched any birds in awhile and now that so many of them are around and with the windows open I can hear them, it seemed the thing to do. Here are three different ones. As usual when I get done I wish I'd used watercolor to sketch them instead of pencil. Maybe later I will have to use this sketch as a guide and do just that. Stay tuned.....
I am never quite happy with the picture I take. It is hard to adjust the levels to get both the whites and the darks to look good. I decided to use the invert option and really like how this turned out. Which do you prefer?
It is warmer today than it was yesterday. I am in shorts and a tee and bare feet and loving it. I think there is a chance of thunderstorms later in the day so I need to get out on the screened porch and enjoy this warmth and sun while I can.
I hope you are doing well today and that you are finding time for yourself and your creativity. Take care,
xoxo
Such a busy girl! I think I prefer the white background because the white eyes in the other one seem strange to me. Could I have tea instead of coffee? Are they Monkey Muffins? hugs, nancy
ReplyDeleteI love PES! Well, at least I do when it is mild. ...a mild reminder that you did good!
ReplyDeleteAnd there is nothing more satisfying to me than getting so much done like that!
Wonderful sketches! I usually just adjust the brightness/contrast in Corel Painter or something similar. Sometimes I get a few shadows here and there, but I accept that. The invert does make it show up a little better.
Have a happy, creative day!
These are really good drawings of birds, thank you for showing us. I find that I always have to adjust the brightness in my pix of drawings. I'm uploading using PhotoProject, which has a brightness adjustment, otherwise mine would be hard to see. I actually do drawings in white ink or pencil on black, too, and I like that effect a lot.
ReplyDeleteBefore I joined this everyday matters group, I'd uploaded a few black ink on white paper drawings here: http://beautifulmetaphor.blogspot.com which I brightened using the program. What it does is just bring them up to the actual contrast they have in rl.
Beautiful sketch Vicki! =) For some reason I am always so intrigue by fat little bird... :) they are so cute, but how can they fly when they are so fat and small? Hahahaha
