Meanwhile, I've been playing with the watercolors this morning, and have attempted a bird and a flower. I didn't sketch the objects first, just went in with watercolor and played a bit. What do you think?
I really need to watch Cathy Johnson's videos for the Strathmore class I am enrolled in and then try my hand at what she is doing.
I sent a check to reserve a spot in a still life workshop that is being offered by the Jackson Civic Art Association in mid-April and am really looking forward to that.
I hope you are finding time for yourself and your creativity today. It is raining here, which makes me feel like taking a nap. Maybe I will paint instead.

very nice work on both the bird & the flower!
ReplyDeleteLovely !
ReplyDeleteWell done - I find using the paint and not sketching first frees up a painting.
ReplyDeleteThis little bird called me over to your blog and he looks great - so cheery and there are so many birds out this spring, calling and chirping and singing :) The flower looks even better - you did well without drawing!! I just started the week 4 lesson for the workshop - I think we only get 4 weeks? Or is it 6? I'll have to go back and read the intro.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with both of these! I wish I could've gone to the exercise class with you ... Monday, for sure! Have fun with Zoe (as if there's anything else when you're with her)! hugs, nancy

ReplyDeleteI was thinking about doing the same! Thanks for the inspiration! These are great! Don't you find that everyone likes your impromptu sketches better than the others?

ReplyDeleteVery nicely done. Watercolor is my favorite medium. I love the transparency and freshness.
