Back to the Routine

My sister and her husband arrived to get Mom around noon yesterday and we had a short visit and coffee before they got on the road for the final 4 hours of their return journey from Florida.

It was so nice to have her as a visitor. She is high maintenance and easy care combined. Those may sound like opposites, but they aren't. She needs lots of help, but is very independent when necessary. She has a very sharp mind and loves to play cribbage and yahtzee and work hard crossword puzzles. We also watched Jeopardy a few times.

On one of our trips to Goodwill I found a book that I may use for a class at Hollander's. I only need the covers and I thought it looked cool.

Several of the days that Mom was staying with me, we had Morgan, my youngest granddaughter for several hours. She is a hoot and loves posing for pictures. Here is one of them:

My first born granddaughter turned 7 earlier in the week and celebrated with a party at the roller skating rink on Saturday. She asked me to make the wrapping paper like I did last year, so I made a gift bag and painted Sponge Bob on it:

While the birthday girl was out skating, the DJ put on a song and congratulated her. The 2 year old pointed at the speakers when the song began and said, "Justin Bieber" as if she knew the singer. I asked the DJ and sure enough she was right. They sure start young these days.

It feels good to be back blogging today and I hope to get back into the "creating every day" routine I had started.

I will get the results of Mom's biopsies today and am hopeful the news will be good.

I hope to see you tomorrow!

xoxo

  1. Welcome back -- I've missed you! Great post (the book looks perfect for the class, by the way). It sounds like you had a fine time with your mom and that you're ready to get back to "normal" (whatever that is). See you soon! hugs, nancy

  2. Missed you on the group. Didn't know you were going to be away. Glad to see all is well and your granddaughter's very sweet. Will be watching for more art. Oh...the book is a great find. Art made from just covers is all the rage...will be watching for yours.

  4. I am glad you are posting again. I pray for the best on the test results. Your Granddaughter is a delight and congratulations on the Birthday. Glad you had a great visit with your Mom. I hope the trip home was delightful. You are so lucky to have a Mom that likes games and fun and shopping. Mine would do nothing. No, I am not kidding. She was to afraid of not being first. So, no games for us. Does your Mom Sudoku? You have to get Her to Sudoku! It is fabulous. I thought I would never get the hang- then boom. I love it and do a book a month.
    Have a great one.

  5. Glad you had a good visit with your mom. May we all be alert when we are her age! That gift wrap looks like my dad's favorite but he didn't bother decorating it. I take it you are talking about a local class. That would be so much fun! Glad to see you back.
