AEDM-Day 17, Bird Sketch, and More Photoshop Brushes

I had time yesterday to sketch another of my favorite birds - the robin. Where I live the robin is one of the harbingers of Spring. I actually think of the Red-Winged Blackbird more often when I think of the signs of Spring, so I think I'd better draw him, too.

I also spent some time last evening playing with "stroking a path" in Photoshop and am planning a tutorial, but life is getting really busy these days, so it might be a couple of days before I can get to it - stay tuned.

Here are a couple of things I was playing with last night. I think they are cute as they are, but hope to incorporate these ideas into a piece of art somehow - I am thinking Santa and his reindeer in the sky. It must be that time of year.

I had such fun making these, but then making them led me to the idea of text on a path and all the wondrous things you can do with that; and that led me to......

Why is it that I always have a bazillion ideas in my head, but only have time for a couple of them at any given time. I definitely need more hours in the day and fewer hours of sleep-NOT!

I actually slept for almost 10 hours last night. It must be the body trying to recover from all those 5 or so hours of sleep nights lately.

The hubster is back from his trip up north with his brothers and it is nice to have him home again. We have the 2 year old today and I have two high school Algebra students mid-afternoon, so I am not sure how much I am going to get done today, but I am sure I will find time to play at least a little.

See you tomorrow,

  1. My English teacher in the ninth grade used to love putting the word "harbinger" into sentences and I distinctly remember her talking about the Robin being a "harbinger of spring"!!!

Love your art and love the memory, too! LOL

  2. Your birds are wonderful! I know what you mean about having so many ideas and so little time. It happens to me all the time. Some ideas are fleeting and when I try to recapture some of them they are not the same. This happens even when I make a sketch or a note. Sort of sad isn't it?
