Digital Quilt, New Self Portrait and AEDM- Day 13

It is Friday, the 13th, and I am expecting a great day. I have an appointment for a haircut at 9 am and then am meeting up with my arty friend, Nancy, for a few hours of second hand stores and lunch. Later my son is coming out to work on some Algebra homework and I am making pumpkin bread to take to Kelly's tomorrow when the Michigan AB group meets at her house for a day long art-o-rama.

I've been playing with brushes in Photoshop lately and decided to try a digital quilt block with hand stitching on it. I subscribe to Fannie's blog and she is working on a fantastic quilt (a real one, not a digital one) and as a former quilter I am loving checking out her work. I am sure her blog influenced my decision to try making a digital one.

I am also playing with the Wacom tablet and the calligraphy brushes that came with Photoshop trying to get in some practice in creative lettering in another way. My signature at the end of this post was made that way. As you can see I definitely need practice, but I am loving playing!

Another group I am in - mostly lurking - is digital nuts - talk about a talented bunch of people. They are working on self portraits. Most of them are taking pictures of themselves and digitally altering them in some manner. For now I have reworked my picture that is associated with this blog. My only problem is that it is rather a Dorian Gray kind of picture. I don't know how to make it look like my age without messing it up. I am thinking of taking a picture of myself using Photo Booth and digitally altering that one for a more realistic representation of myself.

We are having a very strange, but not unpleasant, November this year. It has been in the 50s and 60s most of the month and we are expecting more of the same for another week at least. When the weather turns it is going to be such a shock!

Hope you have a great, creative day!

Bye,

  3. You've got a busy day planned! Your stitches look really stitchy on that little digital quilt. Makes it look so much better as a quilt than not having them.

HOpe the chiropractor helped your shoulder.

  9. Vicki, Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog and the fact that you blog a lot. It's so disappointing when you find a good blog but they only add something new every now and then. And thank you for the clue about Creative Tech. Their free Photoshop class is great. And your work in Photoshop is really fun. I enjoy checking out all your backgrounds. --Claire
