Photoshop Tutorial - Text Magic

Hi

I am back home again after the lovely wedding in the far west UP (about 500 miles one way) and have a small, but very cool tutorial for you. I will have pix and stories to tell about the wedding later.

Open a picture that you like a lot. Here is one of mine you have seen before:

Next, select the Text tool. I am using the vertical text tool that is nested with the horizontal text tool. For your picture you might want to use the horizontal orientation. This "magic" trick works for either.

I am using Trajan Pro as my font and 125 px as my size - the color doesn't matter as you won't see it when we are done. Your font and size may be different - go ahead and experiment and when you are ready come back to the next step.

I am typing the word POPPY in all caps.

Now, while still on the text layer, go to the Fill amount and change it to 0. I know. You are saying, "I must have done something wrong. The word disappeared!!" Look below - it looks like my word disappeared, too. It is still there, but it is transparent.

Here is where the "magic" happens. Go to your blending options and choose "bevel and emboss". I used the default settings....

and Voila!

Hope you liked this one. It is one of my favorites!

See you tomorrow....

Bye!
